YCP, KYC & Activities

What is the youth co-operation program (YCP)?

Youth Cooperation program is one of the MS programs held two or three times a year. Before it was called Youth Exchange Program (YEP). It's objectives was to have equal exchange between the Danes, Nepalese and Indian youths but as the exchange didn't seem equal it was renamed as Youth Cooperation Program with the new concept. It is hoped that there will be equal; co-operation among the participants. Its earlier group composition comprised of 8 Danes, 3 Nepalese and 2 Indians. The Danes and Nepalese went to India and spent a month and came to Nepal. All the participants spent another 1one month with MS partners.

During YEP, the activities was mostly hardware i.e. construction of toilets and building of training halls. But it was later felt that the participants couldn't show to others what they performed did except with the photos. So the new concept has been developed where all the participants can go home with something to show to others what they did in Nepal.

These are some changes in the YCP programme now. Now there are 16 participants, half of them are Danish and half are Nepalese. 8 Nepalese come from 4 different MS partner organizations. The work is now of the software nature like learning to disseminate the information, staging drama, learning to do the documentation work, and doing some kind of activities focused on school education etc. The India part is now cancelled. So the Danish come to Nepal directly and spend almost two months with different MS partner organizations.

Activities with youth co-operation program why?

YCP group is an active group. Youth co-operation program is held by MS Nepal (INGO). The group is made by the youth of various organizations of nepal as well as youth of Denmark Only the YCP group could provide information about substance abuse or drug abuse easier to understand (understandable). In the group there were 19 youth with different talents. The group was divided into six sub- groups that is why it was necessary to provide information in different way. The information mostly for students and public too.

Drama

This was one of the various activities of KYC, PJK. Drama was a vital tool to show and teach the students how drug can lead our life onto the dark. There were five in the drama group. The first three days were spent in writing the manuscript and practicing. The other days 5 shows were presented in 4 different schools. The drama was shown to class 7,8,9 and 10.

The drama group thinks that they conveyed the message in a very good way.

School Education

As Dharan being the most drug affected town, the school education also aimed on giving many information on drug. For instance, the types of drugs, it's effects, how to get rid of it and many more. There was a different group formed for this task. The group had two days for orientation on drug use and the data on Dharan regarding drugs. And the other two days were for the preparation. Among the group there were two groups formed for Nepali and English schools. This school also taught class 7,8,9 and 10.

Text Book

The text book was the ongoing project of KYC, PJK. The team of two were formed who knew PageMaker. This book is meant to be a information on drugs and also guideline to the ones who wish to quit drugs. The book is not yet finished but will be finished very soon when the cover page have been finalized. In the text book there were some plans to put some cartoons. So one of the participants was assigned for that and he made 4 cartoons.

Poster

The PJK center was in need of drug awareness poster and the poster for their center. So two poster has been made. The posters later will be printed in 1000 copies and will be in use.
