Greenlandic point of view

The 7 weeks international
co-operation was an unforgettable experience for us. We felt like we're
from another part of the world, because of the difficulty of cultures and
religion. Understanding and respect was the most important things which we
felt about co-operation. The difficult working with different cultures was
communication, some participant can speak better English than the others,
other speak less English and some can't even speak English. Communication
is important when you're working together, so sometimes it can be hard to
communicate with other, especially when you're trying to explain in
English and you can't express. In this situation, you have to use signs or
like drama if you want to be understand of others.
From co-operation we especially learned the Nepali culture and religion.
To say the truth, we learned more of the day off's where we went out for
sightseeing and experience the Nepali culture. Example: every time when we
visited a temple we learned many kind of Gods like Gods from Buddha and
Hindu e.t.c. These days were amazing, because you'll see the real life of
the Nepali culture and much more. Actually, we also learned about Tibetan
culture while we were in the Tibetan Camp in Jawalakel. Example: how they
celebrate ceremonies, Dalai Lama's birthday and much more. Not least, we
learned about Tibetan food, Nepali food because of making a recipe book
and brochures. While we were in Dharan, we learned about drugs: how to
avoid, about diseases, Nepali school structures and at least about
teaching.
It is important to co-operate with different cultural background to get to
know the country and culture exchange. It is important, because we also
get to know our own identity by learning another culture and compare with
your own culture. "Learning by do it" was the main words while we were
joining the international co-operation, because you have to respect and do
like the others. You can't really be yourself and that's how you're
learning about culture.
