Experience from the YCP project
I
am a member of Base (Backward Society Education), Which is a partner of MS
Nepal. MS Nepal is the one who has started the YCP (Youth Cooperation
Program). I was chosen with Jaya Rani Choudhanry to represent Base at the
programme. We left for Kathmandu on the 1st of July and on the 2nd there
we met Mr. Kaji Shrestha staff of MS and the coordinator of the programme.
After that we met with the other participants from Nepal, six Nepali and
two Tibetans. They were Mr. Utam Upadhayu, Gokarna Raj Bhandari from SSD,
Mr. Mitra Der Adhikari, Mr. Anil Randel from SICKA Nepal, Somnam Wangchuk
and karma from Norbulingka.
We also met Katja a staff and the designer of the programme. She is a
Danish. She divided us into three groups to find information on Greenland,
Denmark and Faeroe ormation Islands in the Internet. After getting
information on the countries we were asked to make a presentation in front
of the participants from abroad. They gave us an opportunity to get to
know about their culture and tradition.
On the 4th of July, we went to Norbulingka, another partner of MS, where
we were to spend almost three weeks. We lived with host family there in
their homes. It was a completely new experience for us living with a
Tibetan family who have completely different way of living than us. As
soon as we reached Norbulingka we where met by Sonam Chuki and Dolca Lama.
We were taken on a tour of the Jawalakel handicraftcenter. We were
informed about the carpet factory and the Tibetan people.
The training started from the 5th of July we were thought how to make
brochures and newsletter by staff from NPI (Nepal Pres Institute). The
trainign lasted five days. I did not know how to make brochures and
newsletters, I did not know it’s importance and why it was needed. I did
not know page maker also but this training gave a chance to learn. Know I
think I will help my organisation by training out of brochures.
I now know the importance of knowing my computers
and also learning English. The rest of the participants, especially from
abroad, know a lot. Staying with them all this time has given me new hope
and new enthusiasm to learn more.
Deepak Adhikari from BASE, Bardiya.
