Introduction

Ethnic Development Center (EDC) is a volunteer organization established by a group of young and energetic Dalit youths in Doti District for enabling and empowering the disadvantaged groups - Dalits and other minorities. Dalits are the socalled “untouchable” castes who are still being discriminated against in many social relations in Nepal. EDC is carrying out activities in a number of areas such as soil and water management, sanitation programmes and activities related to gender issues.

MS is working to improve the organizational capacities of EDC to help it increase human resources and capabilities of Dalits and other disadvantaged groups. A related focus of the partnership is thus community empowerment through capacity building and advocacy.
