Introduction

District Education Office (DEO) is the decentralized part of the department of Education, HMG-Ministry of Education of Nepal. It works in policy planning, programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation and training at district level. Its working area is from pre-school to high school level and among that the Danida-supported Basic and Primary Education Programme (BPEP).

The BPEP is implemented through various components. Two of them are Special Education and Building Maintenance. MS Nepal has for more than five years been involved in special education and building maintenance at district level through a central level partnership with BPEP. This partnership has come to an end and MS Nepal has instead entered into partnership at district level.

In DEO, Doti, MS is working to strengthen the capacity of local staffs, technicians and resource teachers along with the communities to address disability issues and to maintain school buildings. MS supports the improvement of the physical environment of local resource centers and supports building of networks with likeminded organizations and institutions to increase awareness and knowledge about disability issues.
