Future Strategic Choices of MS Nepal

Print this page

  • Help reduce the regional imbalance characterising the traditional approach to growth and development by working in some of the less developed districts (e.g. among bottom 50% of 75 districts).

  • Adopt an area-based and issue-based approach for greater programme visibility and sustainability. Prefer cluster placements of DWs in order to (a) promote area-based approach, (b) increase contributions of DWs; and (c) derive value-added benefits from the programme inputs.
  • Support local level initiatives and activities, which significantly improve the human capability of the target communities.
  • Support local institutions (VDCs, DDCs, NGOs, CBOs Cooperatives, SHGs) in target areas to build capacity of local institutions.
  • Facilitate synergistic networking with stakeholders for resource sharing.
  • Advocate (a) promotion of devolution of power, political pluralism, gender sensitization, environmental conservation, (b) addressing issues of disadvantaged groups (like women, children, landless workers, occupational castes, ethnic minorities disables, etc.)
  • Promote international understanding through information work and exchange programme.
  • Maintain a strong and diversified funding base.
  • Increase MS Nepal capacity to promote effective partnership and carry out coordination and advocacy activities.
  • Continue and consolidate the existing partnerships.
