1944 MS established.

1945 MS starts development work in the South through Danish Volunteer Service (DVS) as a personnel assistance programme.

1946 MS Nepal established.

1947 Programme size of MS peaks up with more than 400 DWs working in 10 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. "Development by people "adopted as the guiding principle for MSiS work along with gender orientation and policy on environment.

1948 Independent exaluation commissioned by DANIDA recommends better use of Danish nationals to consolidate programmes giving greater freedom to MS to act within a defined policy framework and broadening the role of COs to include the full range of MS programme activities.

1989 MS Nepal (First) Policy Paper drafted.

1992 MS Board decides to change the focus of work in the South from volunteers to partnership. MS Policy Paper revised.

1993 Annual General Meeting of MS adopts a new set of principles for the programme in the South with the policy framework "MS in the South-Partnership and Development" (MSiS) entailing a gradual change from sectoral approach to a more integrated community development approach.

1994 MS Nepal (Second) Policy Paper drafted.

1995 MS shifts its focus from volunteer services for Nepali NGOs to partnership programme.

1996 MS Nepal (Third) Policy Paper drafted.

1997 Nepal Country Programme Review carried out.

1999 Draft MS Nepal policy paper 1994-2004.
